Bidding is the process in which the territories to be fought over, and handicaps are determined.

Current System

The current bidding system is similar to what is described in the section below, the only change is that in the last third of ViE#3, the ammount of available bid points was reduced from 20 to 11 (the same ammount available in ViE#1). Changes to the system for ViE#4 are very well possible.

System used in ViE#2 and partially ViE#3

The bidding system was changed slightly for the second campaign to try and make the bidding process a lot more fun and innovative for the CinC's.

The basic principals were the same, except this time, each CinC was given 20 Bid points to play with each battle day. The aim of this was to try and increase the handicap percentage as most battles in ViE 1 were won or lost by quite a high percentage, and the handicaps didn't really come into effect. There was a twist to this though, 50% of the opposing CinC's losing bid would be added to the attacking teams handicap.

Example Bids

Allies BidAxis Bid
First Battle 9.50 Attacking France11.00 Attacking S.UK
Second Battle 10.50 Attacking Germany9.00 Attacking Russia

In this case the Axis Team would win the first battle, and attack the South UK territory, and the second battle is won by the Allied Team who will attack Germany.

Calculating the Handicaps

This was done by the Campaign Manager Scubashark, but just to show you how it was done.

Axis win the first bid with 11.00 bid points. The losing bid from the Allies was 9.50 and so 50% of that (4.75) would be added on to the bid points to give the handicap. The final handicap for this battle would be 15.75%

Allies win the Second bid with 10.50 bid points. The losing bid from the Axis was 9.00 and so 50% of that (4.50) would be added on to the bid points to give the handicap. The final handicap for this battle would be 14.00%

Whilst placing bids, CinC's still had the opportunity to place Victory Points (which were received 1 per Battle Victory)on their bids which affected the handicaps in the same manner as the first campaign. A 15% decrease of the handicap if placed on an attacking bid, and a 10% of the handicap if placed on a defensive bid.

System used in ViE #1

Each CinC receives get 11 points to make your bids for the Battle DAY. The Battle Day consists of 2 maps being played with an attack on 2 territories. Each CinC should make bids for 2 attacks using the 11 points. The CinC allocates which bid goes for which battle.... if the CinC's higher bid is for the late battle for instance, he just places it as his second bid.

Example Bids

Allies BidAxis Bid
First Battle 6.01 Attacking France6.00 Attacking S.UK
Second Battle 4.99 Attacking Germany5.00 Attacking Russia

In this case: Allies will win the first bid and will be Attacking France with a 6.01% Handicap. Axis will win the second bid and will be Attacking Russia with a 5.00% handicap.

The bids are sent to the Campaign Manager. The Campaign Manager then compares the bids with each other. The first bids against each other for the early battle, the second bids for the late battle. The bid that is highest, wins the attack. Aa you see by the above example, The CinC's bid is also his handicap.

ViE uses the regular scoring system. The Campaign Manager ensures that the Server Admins have the maps modified for scoring tick points in 30 second intervals, with no default owners. So each flag an army holds will be worth 1 point every 30 second they hold it. Also each full cap, will give the respective army an additional 50 points. This may change to 100 points, if a map is slow to full cap. The totals will be added up and placed through the Normalization program that will then give the overall percentage ratio that the round was won by. The winner of the battle that also beats his handicap (if attacking) wins a VICTORY POINT for the next Battle Day Bids.

Victory Points

When an army WINS a battle (defense or attack) the CinC get 1 Victory point to use in your next bid process. What this VP does, is allow the CinC to lower his Attacking handicap by 15% or Increase his opponent's handicap by 10%. To increase the attackers handicap, the CinC places his VP on his lowest bid.

  • Allies bid 6.01% and one VP to attack Germany. Allies WIN the Attack: Handicap will now be 5.11%.

OR

  • Allies bid Second Battle 4.99 and one VP for Defense (now you DO need to state that you want it for the defense). Since Axis bid 5.00 and WON, their handicap would now be 5.5%

Suprise Reserve Troops

Each of CinC sends a secret PM to the Campaign Manager, selecting 2 territories that can be ANYWHERE that their army holds as a starting territory. They may place a special 25% ADDITION to the Attacking Armies Handicap! It can be placed somewhere expected or least expected. The 25% addition will stay on those 2 territories as long as the army maintains control of the territory. If the army loses that territory, they lose the 25% addition.

  • Allies attack Germany with a 6.01% handicap. Axis placed their Reserve Army in Germany, Allies Handicap is now set at 7.51%
