Brigadier General is an Allied General rank so far only used in Canadian divisions. It is the lowest of the General ranks. As the name implies, a real Brigadier General commands a brigade, not a division. This rank was used for Senior Officers in the PPCLI.
Confusion may arise wheter or not holders of this rank are "proper" Generals. In the sense of ViE, they are not, as they do not lead the division they are assigned to (rather, there is a higher-ranking General doing this).
