Structure

The "Iron Division" was divided into three squads with distinct tasks:

The East Yorkshire Regiment (EY), the South Lancashire Regiment (SL) and the Dragoon Guards Special Forces (DG).

East Yorkshire Regiment (EY)

The EY was commanded by Captain MEgrr and his second-in command, Staff Sergeant Buddy Lee. It was designated as "Defensive/Objective"-Regiment. Its task was described as follows:

This Regiment is responsible for controlling approach lanes, knocking out enemy snipers, and managing our MG positions. The sniper rifle and the bazooka are key weapons in this Regiment for knocking out enemy snipers, and mg nests. Any weapons that achieve the above objectives, will be an asset. - Captain MEgrr

South Lancashire Regiment (SL)

The SL was commanded by Captain CRaZYCaNaDIaN and his XO, 2nd Lieutenant Ez. It was designated as "Offensive/Attack"-Regiment.

This Regiment is Responsible for advancing the front lines and taking the attack to the enemy. This Regiment will always be pushing forward towards the enemy. This regiment will be up and close to the enemy, which would favor automatics, but the regiment will not be exclusive to that weapon. - Captain CRaZYCaNaDIaN

Dragoon Guards (DG)

The DG was the designated "Specialist Regiment", led by Major Phoenix and his XO Sergeant Major ArmyRanger.

Responsible for the difficult missions during the battle. This Regiment will be responsible for infiltrating the enemy lines and to make frontal attacks on tough objectives. This regiment will be formed from the best riflemen and automatics. What has been missing from previous campaigns is lack of a strong rifle unit that can counter the Axis Kar98. This will change during this campaign. - Major Phoenix

History

The Division was part of the ill-fated British Expeditionary Force evacuated from Dunkirk early in World War II. It was the first British division to land at Sword Beach beach on D-Day and fought through the Battle of Normandy and later the invasion of Germany. For the campaign in Normandy, the division was commanded by Major General T.G. Rennie until the 13 June, 1944; Major General L.G. Whistler took command on 23 June.

When General Bernard Montgomery commanded the division during World War II, the insignia was the 'pattern of three' - a black triangle trisected by an inverted red triangle. The Division is sometimes referred to as the 'Iron Division,' a nickname earned during the bitter fighting of 1916.
