Fallschirmjäger (German: Paratrooper(s)) is the German word for paratroopers. It can be used for both the type of unit as well as the individual paratrooper soldier.

Classic Day of Defeat featured seperate Fallschirmjäger classes on certain map. BFE made extensive use of that feature and introduced Fallschirmjäger-Divisions in BFE#8, though the first division with an airborne designation was the Ax14.. Many of these divisions were highly succesful (for example the undefeated Ax44.) and their members usually shared a strong teamspirit.

Later BFE campaigns saw fewer Fallschirmjäger units and they were finally put out of use with the introduction of Day of Defeat:Source, which, to the dismay of many, does no longer feature them.

ViE#4 was the first ViE campaign in which a Fallschirmjäger unit appeared, but only in name, the [4-FJ].
