Fregattenkapitän (which literally translates as German for Frigate Captain) is an Axis Kriegsmarine Staff CO rank equal to the Heer rank of Oberstleutnant (Lt. Colonel). It was first used in ViE#2, in the 2-KF.

Position within the Chain of Command

Fregattenkapitän is classified as OF-4 in the NATO System and Staff CO, Lower Grade (17) in Ewok's rank classification system. The next lower rank is Korvettenkapitän. The next higher rank is Kapitän zur See.
