The Game Rules regulate the behavior of all players on the Victory in Europe gameservers.

note: rules posted here are not to be considered the official rules. The official rules will be posted by a TA in the forums or on the main tournament site.

Basic Code of Conduct

Here are the basic rules for ViE on the Servers.

1. No Intentionally TKing your team.

2. No Teamswitching (intentionally joining the opposing team you were assigned to).

3. No cheating. We have a zero tolerance policy for cheaters. There is one consequence for cheating: an immediate permanent irreversable ban.

Cheating can be defined as:

a. The use of external program to give an advantage

b. The modification of client files (such as the core exe or dll's)

c. The altering of cvars in an abnormal way to circumvent the regular effects of recoil, draw distance, fog

d. This is by no means a complete list and is subject to change

4. Absolutely no custom content of any sort may be used without the expressed approval of any of the Tournament Staff or the Security Council, with the sole exception of crosshairs , Casey's config, or anythign CAL approved. This includes but is not limited to models, sprites, sniper scopes, sounds, huds, scripts or any custom configs you may be using. If you are found to be using anything custom without having gotten an approval, you will be removed from the tournament as the Staff inspects your content. Depending apon what is found, harsher penalties may apply.

5. Names: all forum rules of names must be observed in the game servers.

6. No using map exploits as defined by the Admins prior to the battle. If you have any doubt about a position, ask before you use the position.

7. No taunting. Taunting is an offensive statement against your fellow players. It may be done through global chat, TS, or in your name. Be courteous to your fellow players, we are all here to have fun. The use of game voice menus isn't considered taunting, however, spamming the game voice menus (continuously and repeatedly yelling "medic!", etc.) is not allowed.

8. Absolutely no alltalk is to be used ingame, with the exception that Tournament Admins, Server Admins, the Security Council, and CO's reserve the right to use allchat, only to be used when administering the servers.

9. Follow all directions of the Admins while a battle is being conducted. From time to time problems may arise and they may need to make adjustments or modifications from established rules and practices.

10. The armies may also enforce their own rules and policies as they find necessary. The admins will have the final say on whether something is enforceable.

11. ViE requires a minimal level of performance to create fair competition. Therefore we mandate a minimum DirectX level of 80 and minimum rates of:

rate 15000 cl_updaterate 60 cl_cmdrate 60

If you are below these rates you will receive a warning, subsequent violations may result in removal from the server and further punishments as needed.

In addition, changing any cvar that gives an unfair advantage over those using default values is considered cheating and if caught there will be a penalty. Three examples in particular are the cvars r_drawdetailprops, r_3dsky, and mat_picmip. r_drawdetail props and r_3dsky must be left at their default values of 1. mat_picmip can be set at 2 or lower.

12. Sprays are allowed but may not contain offensive, illegal, or pornographic content (this is not an all inclusive list).

Management has the final say in all regards of running the servers and forums and reserve the rights to make changes in policy and rule decisions as necessary for the benefit of the tourney as a whole.
